From 2021 the baggage handling was different from what it used to be, when you had to select if you wanted to check baggage from the start or receive a poncho after the finish.
Everyone receives a warm poncho after finishing.
An optional pre-raceday bag check has replaced traditional race-day bag check. You select if you want the pre-raceday bag cehck in your NYRR Dashboard. If you select to check a bag, you must do it at Central Park West between West 69th Street and West 70th Street on Friday or Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. You retrieve that bag after they finish the race in the post-finish area located on Central Park West between 69th Street and 70th Street until 7:00 pm. After 7:00 pm, all unclaimed bags will be moved to the NYRR Run Center where they will be available for pickup on Marathon Monday, November 3 from 10:00am to 8:00pm.
In 2025 selection started on August 19 at 12:00pm. It was open until September 9 at 11:59pm. You select it from your NYRR Dashboard.
