This will be my 1st NY marathon 2015. Which part of the city do you suggest staying Also getting to the race is it Ok to take private transportation or the one offered by the race Do you stay close to the start or finish.

Thanks a lot for your web Runar, it answers all my questions (except one :D) to run my first NYC Marathon next November 1st... If you allow me to ask you my only doubt here, for those who selected Poncho option, are they provided with a transparent plastic bag as well? Or how we can bring our few disposable items to start village?

Admin reply: Yes, you will receive a small clear plastic bag. But you have to leave that in the start village when you start.

This is my first time with NYC Marathon, (thank goodness for the lottery.) :) I have completed 3 marathons and 47 half marathons, all in the last 6 years. I started late, at the young age of 59. Thank you for all the great information for the NYC marathon. I've learned a lot from your site.
